Australian Construction Industry Forum

During my studies, I have completed an internship at the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF), I got the internship by already working for the company, therefore having a paid internship. I completed my 100-hours at ACIF working 10 hour weeks, twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. My role within the company was titled as the "Marketing and Media Officer" I completed multiple tasks a day from social media tasks, Enewsletter creation, along with doing engagement and promotion tasks, etc. During my time at ACIF I worked closely with my supervisor/boss James Cameron, ACIF's Executive Director, who I reported back to and/or asked any questions I had about my tasks.

Enews

During my time with the Australian Construction Industry Forum, one of my most important and consistent jobs was creating the fortnightly eNews. The ACIF Enews was created to showcase the companies members and partners news such as upcoming events, awards or policies etc, occasionally it was also used to advertise ACIF itself or other companies that get in contact with me and would be charged an advertising fee to be included.

Social Media Content

These social media posts were content I created to advertise the company’s event that was being held, the event being held was the forecast preview briefing, where industry professionals came and spoke about the industry and the upcoming forecasts that are released twice a year.

I created this content using Canva, I got in touch with the panelists themselves or their marketing team to source their bios and profile pictures. I scheduled the posts to be posted on the company's Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. ACIF’s Social media advertising was a great way to provide a quick update to their followers, after I had created and scheduled the content I also let the company's members know and asked if they could share the content on their pages to increase the efficiency of the post.

Electronic Direct Mail

Creating EDMs was something I did quite regularly alongside with the eNews, creating EDM’s was also very similar, using the backend of our website and then sending them out to the companies database.

If the EDM I was creating was for ACIF the company itself I would source most of the content myself, however the EDM I am using as an example is a partners EDM which means that it is apart of their partnership benefits and usually I am provided content. EDM’s can also be a paid promotion from outside the companies.

I found that EDMs were the most effective when it came to advertising with the company, I could view how many clicks and opens of the email had, which affected the time and day I would send them out. EDMs are a great way of getting your audience's attention and allowing them to focus on what you are advertisng, they are also great as they allow two way communication, allowing your audience to reply back directly.
